Part VI: "On Trial"

"VILLIANS! HOW DO YOU PLEAD!?"

The sudden noise startled Link and Zelda back into conciousness. They were sitting in something that looked like a medieval courtroom. Weaponless, a shimmering field of dark energy surrounded them.

"I said...HOW DO YOU PLEAD!?"

It was Ganondorf speaking. He was sitting in the judge's seat, a large gavel in his left hand.

"Uh...," Link began to reply, "not guilty?"

Boos rang from the spectators. Link looked around and noticed they were all Stalfos.

"I WILL HAVE ORDER IN THIS COURT!" bellowed Ganondorf while banging his gavel on the table. "If they wish to spread their lies among us before their execution, so be it!"

There was a murmur among the crowd.

"Bring the boy to me!"

For a brief second the energy field retreated and Link was led to Ganondorf.

"So, young man," Ganondorf growled, "let's hear your side of the story."

"Well," Link started to say but was immediately interrupted by Ganondorf.

"LIES! ALL LIES! IS IT NOT TRUE THAT YOU ARRIVED HERE WITH THE SOLE PURPOSE OF MURDERING US NOW? DO NOT STALL ANY LONGER! ANSWER ME NOW!!!"
(Note: The adept reader will notice the Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country reference in that last bit of dialouge. In the movie, Kirk and McCoy face a similar kangaroo court session with VERY similar dialouge. Especiallt that last part from Ganondorf. The fact that this is part VI of the fic isn't an accident. =) )

Link took a deep breath and calmly said, "I came to keep you from returning to Hyrule."

"But is that any different than killing us?" Ganondorf continued. "While we are here we have no life! We cannot thrive! WE ARE AS GOOD AS DEAD!"

"You should have thought of that eleven years ago."

Ganondorf's eyes turned blood red and a rage like none other filled his mind.

THE COURT FINDS YOU GUILTY OF ALL CHARGES!"

Link didn't even flinch.

"GUARD! TAKE THEM AWAY AND EXECUTE THEM AT ONCE!"

Two Stalfos tried to grab Link, but he was ready for them. A few quick kicks to their ribs was enough.

A brief fight ensued. Thirty Stalfos all attacked, and one by one they were all kicked apart by Link's quick feet. It was just a matter of minutes before the mock courtroom was littered with piles of white bones.

"ENOUGH!" yelled Ganondorf. With a quick movement of his arm, the courtroom and the Stalfos vanished and Link's pack returned to his back. In an instant, Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf stood face to face...
