Part VIII: "Left for Dead in the Firey Pits of Hell"

The scene before Link changed again. Rauru explained the change.

"The slave revolt was short at best. Nothing resulted from it besides the death of three officers of His Majesty. Blavidus and his men found themselves quickly outnumbered and realized they could not win, even with their advanced strength and will. They surrendered without furthur fight. What we are now viewing is the royal judge's decision on the fate of the slaves. Watch this carefully, it is very important."

The royal judge Samuel Harmandy, appointed by the king himself, sat in his seat with a grim look on his face. Before him stood the twenty slaves and hundreds of onlookers.

Harmandy had to make a decision, and he dreaded it. By law, the slaves must be executed for their crimes, yet an even greater crime than theirs had been committed. The king had condemned these twenty people to be addicted to a leathal drug for the rest of their lives. One that killed only when not taken. He had experimented on them, and his men had paid the price.

Now it was left to Samuel Harmandy to decide the fate of twenty criminals, and twenty victims. He would not kill them. Nor would he have them put in prison where they would die anyway. There was only one thing to do.

The judge finally spoke, "I hereby condemn you to spend the remainder of your natural lives in exile in the Castanerean Deserts where you are to be escorted to at sunrise tomorrow morning." He looked them over and continued, "As you now know, this is the location of the Bridoctorine that you need to survive. We also believe the substance is responsible for your advanced strength and stoppage of the aging process. As of now, there is no way to tell how long the Bridoctorine will last and how long you will survive, with or without it. In accordance with Hyrule law, this case is open for review at a later date to be determined at a seperate hearing. I wish you all the best of luck. May Din, Nayru, and Farore watch over you."

The view changed to sunrise the next morning. Link and Rauru watched as Arthur Blavidus and his men were led out of the castle and into Hyrule Field. Soon they were speeding off into the distance.

"The exiles found themselves in a place that many say was 'harsher than the Dark Realm itself,'" Rauru said. "Most expected that they would not survive more than a few days at most, but they were dreadfully mistaken. The power of the Bridoctorine allowed them to adapt. It even led them subconciously to the caverns that housed the green spring and river. It was not lond before they began reproducing. There were only five women in the group, but that didn't phase the men much. In ten years, the population had reached fifty. They began calling themselves the Artronnens and started a new civilization. One that remained for five hundred years. No one ever died. The children stopped aging at 25. The Bridoctorine had made them impervious to natural death."

The scene faded, and Link found himself standing next to Rauru again. Back in his chamber.

"There is one more thing you have to see," Rauru continued.

They both vanished in a brilliant flash of light.
