You may know Navi as Link's guardian fairy, but what happened to her before she met him? What kind of adventures did Navi have before Link?

Or while Link was growing up?

This is her story.

We start out in the green village of the Kokiri children. The Deku Tree was giving a speech to the adult fairies who were all gathered around. They were there to discuss a previous event.

Suddenly, a small boy ran in and shouted "Come! There is someone here!"

A woman, which was not an ordinary woman for she was much bigger than the children, came into the village. The woman had been injured and bleeding all over. Her horse was carrying something, two fairies flew over and saw that it was a baby. It was bundled up in a blue blanket and was sleeping soundly. The woman who could barely talk was trying to say something, "take, take me to, to the Deee, the Deku Tree." Then she suddenly turned her head and coughed up a lot of dark red blood.

The fairies led her to the giant Deku Tree, the woman collapsed before it. The Deku Tree spoke in a loud deep voice which echoed throughout that part of the village.

"Whom kneels at thy roots?" the old tree asked. Everyone was wondering too.

"I am Zaundra," the injured woman answered.

The Deku Tree said, "What is the meaning of your presence, and why are you injured?"

Zaundra said with pain "I have come seeking refuge for my son, for I will not last much longer."

A young girl walked slowly up to her carring a small dish. "Drink, it will help with the pain."

"What is it?" Zaundra asked.

The little girl answered in a jittery tone, "It's, it's fairy water."

Zaundra sipped on it while the rest of the children wrapped her wounds. Then she said, "Will you look after my baby?"

"Yes. We will look after your precious baby like it was our own." The Deku Tree smiled, a very big smile. " But why are thou hurt?"

"I was attacked," Zaundra answered.

"By whom?"

"By a thief," she sighed, "By Ganondorf."

The Deku Tree was enraged, his eyes shot red. "Ganondorf." He said with a voice that made everyone shudder.

"WhoÆs Ganondorf?" a small girl asked.

"The man in black that I told you about." The Deku Tree sighed. All of the children started talking umong themselves like children often do.

"I need to rest," Zaundra told the tree.

"Yes, you may sleep in the tree house, that is where your baby will stay as well," The Deku Tree said.

"Thank you," Zaundra got up slowly and looked back at him, "thank you."

The next morning Zaundra was dead.

Another meeting was held this time it was about the baby boy left there.

"What are we going to do with the boy?" A fairy asked.

"We shall keep him, he will grow up as a Kokiri." The Deku Tree replied. "He is special, I can tell he will do something very important. But what shall we call him?"

"How about Deek?" one of the young fairies said.

"ThatÆs your name!!!" another fairy yelled.

"DonÆt yell Navi," an adult fairy scolded.

"We wonÆt choose a name just yet so settle down," The Deku Tree commanded.

"Navi!" a fairy named Nutri wispered, "come on letÆs go!" Navi nodded and followed Nutri out. Four of the little fairies met up outside.

"What are we doing?" a small fairy named Zinc wondered outloud.

"Hey! LetÆs go look at the baby!" Navi said. The rest of them knodded.

The four little pixies flew and flew, it was a big village for such tiny things. They were headed for the treehouse, at one point the bunch tried to fly through a fence.

ZOOM! ZOOM! ZOOM! SPLAT!!! Navi was the only one to not make it through, she hit the wooden fence and fell to the ground.

"How come I always do that!!!" Navi screamed in frustration as she got back up. The others giggled at her. All of them finally arrived at the treehouse, they went inside.

"There he is!" Deek said quietly. The fairies flew over and landed beside his legs. The baby laughed at the site, for he thought it was a game.

Then, Navi saw something in the pocket of the big coat Zaundra was wearing. She flew over and picked it up, she saw that it was a note to the Deku Tree from Zaundra.

"Oh my goodness!" Navi flew as fast as she could to the tree. The other fairies followed not knowing what she was doing.

"Deku Tree! Deku Tree! I found this note to you! ItÆs from Zaundra!" Navi yelled as soon as she got close anough.

"Hold it up for me to see!" The Deku Tree ordered. After he read it he said to fetch the baby.

This is what the note said:

Dear Deku Tree,

If you are reading this then I have

already died. My son will be safe with

you, I know it. You must not tell anyone what

I am about to tell you, not even my son.

The night after he was born I was visited by someone

from the future. She was one of the fairies here, but

she did not tell me her name. She said that my

baby was special, and must be kept safe until

he is older. The fairy also said that one day,

his name will be known by everyone.

For he is Link, The Hero Of Time.
