The Sorceress

Chapter 2

Drazira reported to the kitchen, her brain flooding with ideas. A poison in a glass of wine. Nightshade in the salads. Heh heh. The kitchen would be one of the best places to assasinate the King, his daughter, her husband, and even that silver haired wench if possible. She peered over a stuffed guay, seeing what she could do to it. Right then, another servant said;     "Hey, scrub the floor in leiu of just idling there!" She exclaimed, brandishing a mop and pail of water. Sighing, Drazira took them, and mopped the stone floor until it shone. The first second she could slip away unnoticed, Drazira slunk down the dark corridors to her small room, and retrieved the Pearl from beneath her pallet. Slipping it in her pocket, she then snuck over to the East Wing of the castle, and hung in the shadows, carressing the pearl, chanting;     "Oh pearl......make for me a creature fierce as a storm, with drooping jowls, sharp spear, and jagged teeth..." A moblin materialized before her, saliva dripping from his mouth, and an evil look in his eyes. It growled;     "My mistress, what can I do for you?"     "Find a certain couple... The young man is dressed in green, and the lady in the finest of garments. Slay them, and bring their Triforces to me!!!" Drazira whispered to it. The moblin nodded, and raged down the corridor on his mission. Drazira chuckled to herself, but then, a maid came running, clucking;     "What are ye doin' over here eh?" The woman grabbed her ear, and hauled her back to the smoky kitchen.     "I-i was lost..." Drazira stammered, lying. The maid shook her head, and gave her a dirty cauldron and rag. Drazira snickered and scrubbed happily, expecting to hear a bloodcurdling death cry echo through the castle. Her ears perked, and she waited. ***     Zelda sat brushing her long hair as Link polished his sword nearby.     "Link, do you hear something?" Zelda asked. A thumping echoed down the hall, and Link looked up.     "Yeah, now that you mention it, I do..." Link said, standing. Suddenly, the horrible moblin burst through the heavy wood door. Splinters flew all over the place, as Zelda screamed. Link drew his sword, and began to slash at the moblin's flesh. Zelda used her Sage powers to stun the monster, so Link could get in extra hits, and soon, the moblin's carcass lay in a bloody heap on the floor. Zelda buried her face in Link's shoulder, and sobbed from releif. Link stood stroking her hair, until the King rushed in.     "Oh my...." The King went white, looking at the dead moblin. "What happened?..." Zelda dashed forward to catch King Harkinian as his knees buckled. Link helped him to a chair, where Zelda told him the whole story. Harkinian was outraged.     "How did one of those filthy savage beasts get into the castle?!?" He cried. "From now on, you two are to stay in this chamber and the adjoining one, nowhere else until I say so." Link and Zelda could only nod, their faces grave.     "I shall have everything you shall need brought here..food, bath..everything." Harkinian stammered, beads of nervous sweat on his brow. He then stepped over the moblin, dragging it from the chamber as he left, and closed what remained of the door.     "What is going on? First the chandelier, and now this!!!" Zelda exclaimed. Link put his arm around her, saying;     "Well, we'll find out what it is, Zel." He kissed her forehead. ***     "Curses!" Drazira hissed. The pearl glowed, the image of the dead moblin laying on a garbage heap flickered across the milky surface. She paced across the floor of her room, fuming, as an idea came to her.     "Heh heh heh...." She cackled, as she slipped out of the chamber. Quietly, as not to wake any other maids, she slipped down the dark halls. A guard marched by, and Drazira fell behind a pillar, avoiding his sight. Sighing, she snuck over to the East Wing of the Castle, and down the darkened halls. Approaching a door, Drazira saw several guards standing watch over it. Quickly, she shot a spell from her hand, causing the guards to slump over, out cold.     "Heh heh heh." She cracked the door ever so slightly, and a line of light washed over the form sleeping inside. King Harkinian. Silently, Drazira crept to him, and picked up a spare pillow. She slammed it over his face, as the King awoke, and struggled.     "Shhhhh! Wench!" Drazira hissed, as she heard footsteps clicking down the hall. The King went limp, almost dead, as Princess Zelda stormed in, and screamed. Drazira looked up as Sir Link followed her, and she knew she couldn't finish the job, so, Drazira whispered a curse over the King;     "Sleep in eternal peace.....sleep until my pearl reaches it's demise...." The King grew completely still, except for his shallow breathing. Suddenly, the silver haired woman grabbed her from behind. Drazira wrenched herself free, and shouted the curse to Impa. Impa fell to the floor, as Zelda screamed again. Link pinned Drazira up against the wall, as guards rushed in with spears. Drazira cackled wildly as they roughly dragged her to a dark dungeon. She was chained to the stone wall, and the guards left, muttering something about beheading. Drazira smirked at these silly mortals. As soon as the chattering faded, she changed into a serpent, and slithered up the wall, and out the barred window into the night. ***     Zelda sobbed into Link's shoulder, as she waited for someone to take Impa to her room. Link asked the healer before the King;     "Is he dead?"     "Nay, but under a spell..." He looked up. Zelda cried;     "Can you break it? Who was that?"     "I canna break it. It can only be broken by destroying a pearl...The person was an ancient sorceress who lives in the far north...You two might go there to seek it."     "But she's in the dungeon..." Link said. Zelda added;     "How do you know who she is?" In a poof of smoke, the healer transformed into a familiar face.     "Rauru!" Link said. Rauru bowed, saying;     "I was here to warn you, but it was too late. Todestroy the pearl, it will require the power of the remaining sages, and the might of the Hero of Time. The Sorceress escaped. I can sense it. That is why we must go."     "Oh..." Zelda said, "I'll summon the other Sages."     "We'll leave at dawn." Link comfirmed.
