Springtime
Shower
Spring, the season of love. I
wonder... really, what is love? It's a feeling, it's
an... <gulp> action... but to me? I guess it's an
illusion. It's something I don't posses. I wonder when I
will. Everyone has a soul mate right? But just, who is
mine?I know who I love. I mean REALLY love. Link, I want
to marry him, but he... he hasn't made any moves to show
that he wanted more then friendship. I want him to come
sweep me off my feet. I want him to kiss me and then... I
shake my head and stop brushing Moondust. I need to get
out of here, I'm starting to think bad thoughts.I stand
up and exit the stables, walk past Ingo, and down the
hill into Hyrule Field. The warm spring breeze hits me
full blast. Ah, that felt good. I inhale the air. Now
where to go? I look straight ahead. In the distance I see
the market. I could visit Ariana in the Bomba-Chu Bowling
Alley. Or I could see Miss Hiria and little Richard. I
could visit Mack at the Happy Mask Shop. Maybe I could
talk to Kirt at the castle gates. I shake my head, nah I
don't feel like hanging around there.I look to my right.
I could visit Marie and her cucoos at Kakariko Village,
or Stella, she always has good food waiting on the stove.
Or I could visit the Zoras, Link introduced me to them
before, and they said I was always welcome there. I could
play the diving game with Stark, or maybe talk with Lord
Jabu-Jabu.Nah, they're all kinda snobby, I think I'll
skip it. To my left is Gerudo Valley. I remember the
first time I went there. Link introduced me to them as
well. I eventually became one of their horse trainers,
and honorary sister. I had the little two piece outfit in
my room. I don't think ill be wearing that anytime soon.
I could talk with Nibiri, the Gerudo fortress leader. Or
maybe try my luck with the horseback archery. Nope I'm
not in the mood for heavy physical activity.Hmm, what to
do what to do? I start to walk down the path to the
market. I wonder what I'm gunna do today? Suddenly, I
hear the approaching of a horse. I turn around and look
who's here! I smile. "Hey Fairy boy!"Link. Ok
breathe Malon. Breate. Oh no, he smiled. Can't breathe.
He jumps off his horse. "Hey Malon," he hugs
me. Oh boy, there's that warm chill feeling again. Where
does that keep coming from? "What are you doing out
today? Delivering milk to the castle?" I smile and
shake my head. "Nah, I'm taking a mental health day.
I needed to get out of the ranch." I confess. He
nods, and then smiles, bearing his perfect white teeth.
"Say Malon," He asks shyly, "I'm going for
a ride to the Lost Forest, you wanna come?"HELL YES!
"Um.... Ok, I mean sure, if you want me too,
I..." I blush. Ok I'm an idiot. "Alright
then!" He jumps onto Epona, and offers me his hand.
I take it, and he helps me up. "Alright, hold on
tight Malon." I look around, "To what?" I
ask. He turns around and smirks, "What do you
usually hold onto when you come riding with me?" he
asks sarcastically. I blush. "Not what I want
to," I think to myself. "Oh, right. Sorry, I
told you I needed a mental health day." "You
got that right, Malon." I grab onto his waist and he
kicks Epona lightly. She neighs and takes off at a fast
canter. Now, I've been talking to some of my friends from
various places, and they have noticed that I like Link, a
lot. They've been saying if I don't tell him how I feel,
that someone is gunna take him from me. They also said
that Link likes me too. But of course, I don't believe
them. I think that they're just trying to offer me
sympathy. I wish I could believe them. They think that we
belong together, that it was love at first sight.Truth
is, it wasn't. Sure when I first saw Link, I thought
"Wow, what a cutie!" but it wasn't love, just a
crush. He was easy on the eyes. And I was 10 at the time.
So I had no idea of what love REALLY was. So I don't know
where my friends are getting love at first sight from.
Well, whatever. I love him now. He has saved me, in every
way a person can be saved. He's given me hope, faith,
good humor, friendship, and in a sense, love. I suppose
that's why I love him so much. He's given me hope. When
my dad was kicked off the ranch, it died. When Ingo stole
my first kiss, It rolled over in its grave. But Link, he
saved me from that. He told me I was beautiful. He told
me I was his friend. And now, he always stops by, helps
me with my chores, remembers my birthday. He's given me
my life back. How could I not love him?I hold onto his
waist a little tighter. I don't want to loose him. If I
did, Goddesses, I would take my life. I need him. I place
my head on his shoulder. I breathe in his scent. I smell,
pine and fresh air. Good smell. I shut my eyes. I'll
never let him go. Never. Not even the Goddesses of Hyrule
could take him from me! Never!"Malon?" Link
asks quietly. I open my eyes. I realize that the tears in
my eyes had fallen onto his shirt. "Yeah?" I
ask softly. I look around, we're right in front of the
entrance to Kokiri Forest. "Are you ok? You were
crying." I blush. I need to learn to control my
emotions. "Yeah, it's just.... Uh, never mind."
He opens his mouth, as if to say something, but stops.
"Alright, but if you wanna talk about it, you know
I'm here." I raise my head from his shoulder. Our
faces are literally centimeters away. I look down.
"Thank you Link, I know." I look back up at
him. I could drown in his eyes. They're so deep. He leans
forward and kisses my forehead. Wow, I didn't expect
that. I stare at him, eyes wide, and mouth agape. He
blushes. "Sorry..." he mutters. I blush as
well, "It's ok." He smiles, "We can't take
Epona into the forest so we're gunna have to walk from
here, do you mind?" I jump down. "Nope. Let's
go!" We run into Kokiri Forest together. The little
kids stop what they are doing and gather around us.
"Link! Hi!" shouts a girl with red hair and
freckles. Link picks her up and tosses her in the air.
"Hey Wisha!" He places the giggling girl on the
ground. He's gunna make a great father someday. I feel a
tugging at my skirt. I turn around to see a little Kokiri
elf boy with blonde hair staring up at me. "Hi lady!
I'm Quami, you're pretty!" He hands me a daisy. I
smile, and crouch down. "Hi Quami, I'm Malon, you're
very handsome." I give him a quick kiss on the cheek
and he blushes and runs off to his friends. That's cute.
Another Kokiri boy comes up to us. "Link?
Link?" The little boy squeals. Link turns around and
smiles. "Hey Petri!" The little boy smiles and
then points at me. "Is that your girlfriend?"
All the kids around us begin to laugh. Link grabbed my
hand, and rushed up the hill to the lost woods, blushing
all the way. Ok that was weird. The second we got into the
Lost Woods Link looked down. "Heh heh, sorry about
that Malon, they're..." I smile sadly, "Just
kids?" I offer. He looks up, a slight blush still on
his cheeks. "Yeah. Come on this way. I wanna show
you something." I shrug. I've probably seen it
before, Link has taken me all around the Lost Woods. We
make many twists and turns, And then we make a right, a
turn I didn't know we could make. Link stops. "Ok
Malon, close your eyes." I raise an eyebrow.
"Why?" He smiles. "Just do it. For me?
Please Farm girl!" I roll my eyes, and shut them.
"Alright Fairy boy, this better be good." I can
almost feel his smile. "It is."I feel myself
being lifted off my feet. "Link what the..." He
puts a gentle hand over my mouth. "Shhh, I don't
want you to trip." I sigh, and shut my mouth. He
walks for a little while and then places me on my feet.
He takes my hand, and guides me. I hear the rushing of
water. What is he doing? "Ok, open your eyes!"
I open my eyes slowly. They adjust to the sunlight. I
look around, and my mouth drops wide open. "It's...
It's...." I spin around. I'm standing in a
completely secluded area. There is a medium sized
waterfall behind me, flowing into a stream that leads off
into the distance. There are a few stepping stones, and
they lead to where I'm standing. It's a little island
like thing, with a large tree, and a few boulders.
Flowers dot its green grass, and in the tree is a small
fort. "It's beautiful!" I exclaim. Link looks
at me. "Yeah, beautiful." I look up at him.
"How did you find this place?" He grinned
proudly. "When I was about 8 I wanted to prove that
I was a man, so I went into the Lost Woods on a bet that
I could make it to the forest temple, without getting
lost. I almost made it too, but I made a wrong turn, and
ended up here. I never told anyone, not even Saria, about
it." I smile. He only shared it with me."You
know Malon," He began shyly, motioning for me to sit
by him, "There's a reason I brought you here
today." I walk over to him, and sit. "Why's
that Fairy boy?" He looked away and sighed.
"Malon..." He sighed again and stopped. I
frowned. He's never hesitated to tell me anything before.
"Link, you know you can tell me anything. I won't
laugh or make fun of you. I promise." He didn't lift
his gaze. "Malon, it's not that easy... I mean what
I'm about to say... it's intense." I place my hand
on his cheek gently, and lift his head. "You cant
tell me." I repeat. Blue clashes with blue. Our eyes
sparkle and dance with each other. "Malon,
I..." His face leans closer to mine, and my eye lids
close slowly. His lips find mine, and we meet in a soft
kiss. Suddenly there is a... a... I don't know how to
describe it. It's like a spark. "Malon," he
says quietly, "I love you." I feel my eyes
tear. My heart is swelling and soaring. My brain has gone
out to lunch and my emotions are taking over. This is
perfect. I lean forward and kiss him. He seems a bit
taken off guard but doesn't seem to mind. The kiss isn't
as soft as it was before. It's more... passionate, more
needing, more tongue... heh heh. I let my hands tighten
around his neck, and his hands slide down my back, and
stop at my waist. His hands toy with my hair, and I moan
a little bit. I'm enjoying this a little too much. I
break off the kiss, and stare at him. "Well," I
say shyly, "That was nice..." He runs a hand
through his hair. "Yeah." Ok, call me kinky,
but I liked that. A lot. I want more of that. I guess he
does too because he finds my lips again. This time, we
aren't sitting. He's on top of me. Oh boy, this is...
this is wrong. Only married couples should be doing this
kinda thing. His lips leave mine and move to my neck. Ok
yes that's enough! "Link!" I shout,
"That's enough of that." He realizes what he's
doing and jumps off of me. "Uh... sorry, I got
carried away. Sorry." I smile. "It's ok... it's
just not... the.... It's not the right thing to do."
He hugs me, and whispers, "Malon?" I pull back,
"Yes?" He reaches into his tunic, and pulls out
a diamond heat shaped ring. Oh, my Goddesses! Is he...?
"Will you marry me?" I stare at him. This time
I can't hold back the tears. I cover my face with my
hands and sob. I look up at his hopeful face and through
my tears I smile and nod. His face literally glows, and
he lifts me in his arms. I wrap my hands around his neck,
and he places the ring on my finger. I kiss him again.
Suddenly, a spring shower stars to fall, but neither of
us seems to notice. For when you're with someone that you
love, the springtime rain never brings you down.
