Ganon stepped into the
cool, clean air of the new dawn, stretching and sighing
to himself. He looked to the pathetic Moby perched atop
his broad shoulder, and snapped;
"Fool, fly to North Castle, and see what that wench
of a Princess and her "Hero" are up to!!!! I
want to see how vulnerable they are.....heh heh
heh...." He was anxious to see how poor defenses
were at the newly established castle, so he could
possibly attack. With a grunt, he heaved the poor bird
into flight with the swing of a bulky arm. The Moby
squawked fearfully, and flew due north with all it's
might. Ganon shaded his eyes to watch it, and as soon as
the black speck faded into the rising sun, he turned back
into the blistering heat to oversee his minions working
studiously to build their master a domain.
"Wenches! Obey me, and take heed! Travel now to the
Lost Woods, and bring back the strongest of Moblins to
aid me here!"
"Bossssssssss....." An Undead called Staal
hissed through serrated incisors. "Whhhhaat
abouttttt tttheeeeeeee Gggorrronssssssssss? Thhheeeyyy
ownnnn ttttttttttthhhhheeeeeeeeee shoooooooorrrtcut
ttheerrrrrrreeee!"
"I free you to do with the parasites as you
please...." Ganon sniggered. The Undead heathens
grunted eagerly, longing to consume soft juicy flesh.
"Begone!" Ganon waved a gnarled hand in
dismissal, and the Undeads let out a scream of excitement
in unison, making haste to the cool darkened caverns of
Goron City. After the passing of several minutes, their
snarling echoed, almost being drowned out by the guttural
tortured cries of the endangered Goron race. The pleas
for help echoed through the crater, rising on the steam. ***
Darunia ran with all his strength to
the mouth of the cool clammy cavern upon hearing the
death cries of his people.....He drew back at the
horrible sight though as he gazed downward from Level
Blue. The carnage was immense, undead creatures ripping
shreds of flesh off the Goron people alive, ripping
through their bodies with their knife-esque claws.
Darunia summoned his strength, and conjured his Sage
powers to his aid. s he concentrated, an orb of glowing
light formed above his head, and Darunia focused it to
the nearest denizen, watching the decaying parts being
blown away. It was too late for the undead's victim. All
that was left were ghastly snapped bones. Darunia tried
in vain, again and again to destroy these horrors killing
his whole race before his onyx eyes, and he vanquished
quite a few, but his people were dying. A childish scream
drew the Goron King's attention, as he saw his own son,
Link of the Gorons, frozen in fear as an undead creature
slowly creeping towards him, drool beading around the
drawn back lips.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"
Darunia mustered all his strength, and leapt straight
down the sheer rock cliffs to Level Yellow, onto the back
of the creature. It hurt as he plopped down, a dull
ache spreading through his ribs, but he had to look to
his enemy. It was flattened against the ground, but
flipped over, taking out it's hungry rage on the Goron
King. The last thing Darunia knew was fear and pain as he
faded away, his life being sucked from his body. ***
And Father, we would be very strong if we ever needed to
go back to war with Tanol...." Zelda sat in a plush
easy chair, the afternoon sun illuminating her fair face.
The King looked to her, then to Link, stroking his snowy
beard thoughtfully with a smooth pale hand.
"You have also told of the dangers, and Zel, I don't
know if you two would have the strength to do the
spell.....Study up on it more....." Harkinian
decided. "Then I'll give my verdict."
"Yes, your Majesty.." Link stood, and bowed.
"Zel, do you want to go to Mido Library
tomorrow?" "Sounds like a
good idea to me...." Harkinian nodded.
"Alright!" Zelda's face lit up, and she smiled
to Link. "I will meet again with you, Father to
discuss this in two days time....Wait, Link, get that
guay off the windowsill please before it leaves a
mess!" She giggled. Link gave her an amused look,
and opened the wide paned windows, shooing the small
black coloured bird from the stone ledge that protruded
from it. Unbeknownst to them, the Moby flapped off
towards a distant mountain shrouded with a greyish cloud
muttering under it's breath:
"Triforce triforce triforce triforce...." ***
"If only we could somehow get the Triforce of Power,
but it's in the Sacred Realm..." Link said, looking
to Zelda. "Yeah, that
would be a good thing....We'd rule all Demiari!"
Zelda exclaimed. Link couldn't help seeing how beautiful
she was, her blonde ringlets framing her face, blue eyes
looking like cool deep ponds...
"That...er, dress becomes you, Princess..." He
shyly muttered. "Thank you,
Link!" She rewarded him with a bright smile, looking
to him. For a second, their eyes meshed, and Link hoped
he knew what he meant, too shy to tell her. Zelda at the
same time looked into his azure eyes, and for a split
second placed a hand on his shoulder, but footsteps
coming down the corridor broke the spell.
"Thank you." Zelda skipped a ways down the
halls happily, humming a little ditty to herself and
leapt up the steps to her chamber. ***
The salt air could be smelled from the plains near Mido,
as Link and Zelda crested the ridge into the largest city
of Hyrule. The silver cupola of the Mido Library glinted
in the sunlight, the purple flag wearing the Hylian crest
waving in the ocean breeze. Off at the very edge of the
neat rows of white plastered buildings, displayed before
them, was the ocean. A small ship bobbed in the breaking
waves and foam.
"C'mon." Zelda motioned for Link to lead the
horse into the crowded marketplace. Small children danced
among the stalls of fresh fruits and smelly fish, and the
musty smell of horses and livestock mixed with the scent
of fresh clean ocean water and incense wafting from the
small temple in the centre. A stable stood in the market,
and Link led Epona into it, ducking under the low
thatched roof. "Mind if we
keep our horse here?" Zelda asked the stable boy.
"Gonna cost ya, sugar baby." The man grinned
with yellow teeth. Zelda considered yelling at him for
speaking to her disrespectfully, but instead she just
sighed, and plunked a red rupee into the man's filthy
palm. She then looked to Link, who was scratching the
horse's head affectionately.
"Let's get outta here." She was disgusted with
the flea riddled man who had no manners. She huffed, and
lifted up her long skirts, Link following her into the
blazing sunlight. "Zel, what's
wrong?" Link asked, curious.
"Argh, did you hear how that...dog..spoke to
me???" Zelda seethed.
"Nope, sure didn't!" Link grinned.
"Ne'er mind then. Let's just go to the
library." ***
Link pulled the heavy volume onto his lap, as he sat up
against the window in the window seat. He had come across
a long neglected thick book completely about things the
Triforce could do. Flipping through the worn pages, he
took mental notes, of this power and that power and such.
"Haha, shape change..." He imagined himself as
a Goron or something, the thought bringing smiles to his
lips, "illumination, repelling enemies,
telepathy....Hey, telepathy!" He muttered under his
breath, definitely taking note of that. Hehe, they'd
convince the King in no time.
"You find anything yet?" Zelda walked up to
him, smiling. She sat next to him, pulling part of the
book into her lap. "Hrmm...this
is pretty interesting....Link?"
"Mmm?" Link looked up.
"Why were you so eager to try this in the first
place? Just wondering though."
"Oh....it sounded unique, and if we somehow tricked
Ganon into escaping, of course under our supervision, and
trying it, we could re-gain the Triforce of
Power!!!" Link grinned, excited.
"Yeah!!!" Zelda answered, giving Link another
of her fantastic smiles.
"You know, I just love it when you smile like
that...." Link murmured, his demeanor suddenly going
serious. Princess Zelda just blushed, and
said; "And I
love when you look at me like that....."
"How?" Link was puzzled.
"Well, your eyes....they're just so deep and blue,
and they look so big when you're serious. And your head
just sort of tilts to the side, with a little grin on
your face..." She blushed again, and leaned up
against Link. He gently stroked her cheek, and put his
arm around her. Zelda smiled again, and looked down
towards the book, flipping the page.
"Oh my....." She gasped. "Link, listen to
this! There is one thing that is stronger than the
three Triforces, it is the fourth Triforce, the
Tetraforce of Hope, that fills in the centre of the
shape. It is the only thing that can defeat the one who
has the three. It has been hidden for ages though, by the
Divine in the claws of the Phoenix in the dwelling of the
young...." "What
the heck?" Link asked.
"It's probably just a legend..." Zelda shook
her head, doubtful of the passage. "What would it
mean anyway? The dwelling of the young? The young what?
Moblins? It doesn't make any since anyhow.."
"Yeah, I suppose your right...." Link murmured.
"You hungry? It's about 12:30." Zelda stood.
"Yeah...." Link got up, and replaced the old
book to the shelves, and together they walked out into
the bright sunlight and crowds. A small cafe stood
looking out on the glassy sea, it's doors wide open to
the salt air. "Wanna eat
here?" Link asked.
"Yeah, here they have some good food." Princess
Zelda led Link inside the cool stone building, and once
inside they sat at a wicker table covered with a simple
yet cheery checkered linen. A shriveled old woman
approached; "I am truly
honoured to be in your presence, My Lady...Link."
She nodded in acknowledgment to each of them. "What
would you like?" "Uhh....how
about some flounder?" Zelda asked.
"Yup, OK....You, Link?"
"The same please." Link grinned at Zelda, who
blushed. "Alright,
two plates of flounder, that'll be 10 rupees
please." Zelda took out her silk purse, and pulled
out two blue rupees. "Thank you
very much, you food will come shortly." The woman
shuffled over to a small jar, and plunked the money in
it, and disapeared into the kitchen.
"Isn't the view pretty, Link?" Zelda sked,
looking out over the sea.
"Yeah....." Link wasn't looking at the sea, but
was smiling at Zelda. "You're
sweet, you know?" Zelda took Link's large leathery
hand in her small white one, blushing. A commotion rose
outside at that moment, and Link and she hopped up,
looking outside. "What
the....???" Link asked puzzled. A young man
had ridden into the square, asking around for Link and
Zelda. "It's Sir
Adam!" Zelda exclaimed. "Adam, we're over
here!" She cried. Adam looked up, and cantered his
horse to the cafe' doorway.
"M'lady, Link, you're needed at the castle
immediately!" "Why?"
Link asked. "I don't
know, but it sounds important!!!" |
